Description
Homeschool Orchestra is an introductory class for students who are new to playing a string instrument (violin, viola, cello, or double bass) or have limited prior experience. This course focuses on building a solid foundation in both individual technique and ensemble playing. Students will learn the basic skills necessary to play their instrument, including proper posture, bowing technique, finger placement, and tuning. Emphasis is placed on developing a good sound, basic music reading, rhythm, and the ability to play simple melodies. Students will also begin to understand music theory concepts like note values, time signatures, and key signatures. Throughout the semester, students will rehearse as part of an ensemble, working on playing together in tune and in rhythm, listening to one another, and following a conductor. Simple pieces from classical, popular, and folk traditions will be explored to provide a fun and diverse musical experience.
